What could possibly be wrong with “Snake Island”? Well, let’s see… um, snakes! For every 5 square meters on the Brazilian island there is one snake. But we’re not talking about some random snake, the islands is the habitat of one of the deadliest snakes on Earth – the Golden Lancehead Viper. Its venom can eat through a human’s flesh and kill a person in no time. Only a select group of scientists gain permission to visit the island, once a year, to conduct research on these lethal snakes.

In the northeast region France you can find a complex series of tunnels that house some of the oldest murals in history. The 600 artworks, which consist mainly of large animals, date back more than 17,000 years! Even though you once could visit, after a fungus outbreak, the site was closed and only few scientists got access to the site. Can you imagine what kind of insurance you would need for a place like this.
