Pre-cut meat before freezing it.

The reason you end up throwing out fresh meat is that you don’t get to cooking it until the last moment and this leads to wasted food. So then the obvious choice is to freeze it. But then you pull out the whole container to thaw and end up running into the same problem: excess food you can’t eat that will go bad before you can get a chance to chow down. So what we found out is that you can pre-cut any of your fresh meat, like ground beef or chicken, before you ever freeze it. Cut your beef into serving sized squares that you can pull out with a moments notice to thaw on its own. It’ll cut down thaw times while allowing you to allocate your proportion sizes in the proper way. This is a food hack that won’t change your life but it’ll change your kitchen.

Use mason jars for mobile salads.

Eating healthy is the hardest when you have to go to work and make your meals for traveling. In this way we always end up resorting to pre-cooked frozen meals or grabbing some take out. Not very healthy, right? Well, what about taking a mason jar salad with you to work? Most times when we try to pack salads we end up getting a soggy meal that is hard to even muster up the desire to eat. However, you can use a mason jar to change the game. Start by pouring your favorite dressing in first. Then you’ll add in your heavier vegetables and toppings before switching to the lighter stuff like seeds, sprouts, tomatoes, or almonds. Finally you’ll add your healthy mix of greens such as spinach or arugula. Seal off the the mason jar and write your name on the front. Leave the mason jar in the fridge til you are ready to chow down and you’ll end up with a crispy, delicious, and unique salad on the go. These are easy to make, too, so they’ll be quick to prep in the morning.
