Cliff Clavin is forever describing his mother, with whom (despite his advanced age) he still lives. His mom – Esther Clavin (Frances Sternhagen) bursts onto the set as a smart, funny lady in season 7 and is nobody’s fool. As her son plots to try to get her to marry a rich man (so Cliff can later inherit) – she is having none of it.
