When Rachel received a scholarship to study drama at San Diego State College, she needed to earn some money. She started by securing herself a job as a weather forecaster at KFMB, but ironically had to quit acting school because of the demand at the TV station. She decided to move to Texas with her kids where she became a cocktail waitress and a model.

In 1964, Raquel Welch made her debut in a movie called, “A house Is Not A Home”. She played a call girl – it wasn’t a big role, but it was a start.
